The Story Behind Daphnew
The name Daphnew is inspired by Daphne, a beloved figure in Greek mythology. Daphne was a naiad—a water nymph connected to streams, wells, and other bodies of freshwater. Her name also links to the Daphne plant, known widely as the bay leaf, which is especially prized when it grows wild in the mountains of Turkey.
The Daphne plant has a fascinating legacy. Known for its rich bioactive properties, it possesses antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and even analgesic qualities. Beyond its culinary and medicinal uses, it also holds symbolic value as a symbol of purity, strength, and natural healing. Daphne’s enduring resilience in nature echoes the qualities I aim to bring into my creations—pieces that are pure, inspired, and thoughtfully crafted.
But why the “w” in Daphnew? For me, the “new” is a way of embracing a fresh start—a new chapter of life beyond the corporate world and the daily demands of family. Daphnew is my creative journey, born from the heart and driven by a desire to make something meaningful, not just for profit but for joy and connection. It’s my way of bringing a piece of nature’s beauty and resilience into the world through handmade gifts and decor that I hope will bring joy to others.
So, in every piece crafted at Daphnew, you’ll find a bit of that myth, a bit of that plant, and a whole lot of heart.
