How to Care for Your Wood & Resin Board

How to Care for Your Wood & Resin Board

I hear this all the time: “It’s so beautiful, I don’t want to use it!”
Believe it or not, sometimes being too beautiful can work against you. :)
But I promise, your board is made to be used and with a little basic care, it will stay beautiful for a very long time.
So please, use your board.
Don’t save it only for guests, holidays, or special occasions. Make your morning breakfast on it. Put together a little cheese and fruit for yourself. Serve your sandwich on it. Bring it out on an ordinary Tuesday just because you can.
You deserve to serve yourself something beautiful, too.
That’s really what these boards are about. They’re not just meant to look beautiful sitting in your kitchen. They’re meant to become part of your everyday life the dinners, snacks, celebrations, conversations, and little moments in between.
And taking care of them? It’s much easier than you think.

Taking care of your resin board is easier than you think.

You can use your board every day, just like any other wooden serving or cutting board. There’s really nothing complicated or high-maintenance about it, it just happens to be a lot more pleasant to look at.

That’s actually one of the reasons we love combining natural wood with resin. You get a beautiful piece that feels special enough to bring out when guests come over, but practical enough to use for an ordinary Tuesday night snack.

So please, use your board. Don’t save it for a special occasion.

When the Wood Looks Dry, Give It a Little Love

Natural wood changes with use. After repeated washing, you may notice that the wood starts looking a little lighter or drier.

That's completely normal.

When that happens, apply a small amount of food-safe board oil or board butter. It helps condition the wood and brings back its rich, beautiful appearance.

You don't need to follow a complicated schedule.

Let the wood tell you when it's ready.

If it looks dry, it's probably time.

Avoid Harsh Cleaners

You don't need anything special to keep your board clean.

In fact, simpler is better.

Warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft sponge are usually all you need. Avoid bleach, harsh household cleaners, steel wool, and abrasive scrubbers, especially on the resin portion, where they can leave scratches.

Don't Worry About Perfection

Your board may eventually show small signs of use.

That's okay.

Natural wood changes over time. Tiny knife marks may appear. The color may deepen. The grain may become even more noticeable after conditioning.

We don't think a board that's been enjoyed around a table for years should look exactly like one that just came out of the box.

Those little signs of use are part of its story.

The Simple Version

If you don't want to remember an entire care guide, you don't have to.

Just remember:

Use it often.
Wash it by hand.
Don't soak it.
Keep it out of the dishwasher.
Cut mainly on the wood.
Condition the wood when it looks dry.

That's really it.

Your Daphnew board isn't something you need to be afraid of using. It's a functional everyday board that just happens to bring a little more beauty to your kitchen and your table.

Because everyday things can be beautiful, too.

Serve cheese on it. Slice fruit on the wood side. Make sandwiches. Put together an after-school snack. Bring it out for Thanksgiving, birthdays, wine nights, or when friends unexpectedly stop by.
